Abstract

Mulberry plants are native to nature and grow wild. They are commonly
used as medicines and as healthy foods and beverages. This is due to the beneficial
properties of mulberry plants, including their roots, stems, twigs, leaves, and fruit.
One method of propagation for this plant is stem cuttings, and a key factor in
successful cuttings is the use of plant growth regulators (PGRs) to stimulate the
growth and development of the cuttings. This study aimed to determine the effect of
several organic PGRs on mulberry (Morus alba L.) cuttings and determine the best
treatment for their growth.
The study used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with seven treatments:
M0 (control), M1 (50 % Aloe Vera Extract), M2 (100 % Aloe Vera Extract), M3 (50
% Shallot Extract), M4 (100 % Shallot Extract), M5 (50 % Coconut Water), and
M6 (100 % Coconut Water). Each treatment was replicated three times.
Observational data were analyzed using ANOVA. If a significant effect was found,
further testing was conducted using the Least Significant Difference (LSD).
The results showed that applying organic plant growth regulators (PGRs)
to mulberry stem cuttings at concentrations of 100 and 50 %, consisting of aloe
vera, shallot, and coconut water extracts, significantly affected leaf number, root
length, shoot height, and root number, but did not affect shoot number or shoot
emergence age. Applying 100 and 50 % aloe vera extract to mulberry stem cuttings
was the best treatment for increasing leaf number, root length, shoot height, and
root number.
