Abstract
SUMMARY
The availability of quality green fodder is a crucial factor in supporting the growth and productivity of ruminant livestock. The green fodder commonly used by livestock farmers is derived from superior grasses, one of which is Pakchong grass. Pakchong grass is often used as livestock feed due to its rapid growth, productivity, and relatively high crude protein content. Pakchong grass growth is influenced, among other things, by the availability of nutrients in fertilizers, namely nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). These nutrients play a role in promoting plant growth and biomass accumulation. Increasing nutrient availability in fertilizers can be achieved by adding the biofad bioactivator, which accelerates the decomposition process, increasing nutrient availability and supporting plant growth. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of applying goat feces fertilizer with the biofad bioactivator at different levels on the growth of Pakchong grass.
This study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of four treatments and five replications. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive methods for the variables of tiller number and leaf number, and using analysis of variance (ANOVA) for plant height, leaf length, and fresh weight. If there was an effect on the variables in the analysis of variance (ANOVA), a DMRT test was conducted. The treatments in this study were P0: Goat feces fertilizer without Biofad bioactivator (control); P1: Goat feces fertilizer with 0.025% Biofad bioactivator; P2: Goat feces fertilizer with 0.05% Biofad bioactivator; P3: Goat feces fertilizer with 0.075% Biofad bioactivator. The observed variables were (number of tillers, number of leaves, leaf length, height of the plant, and fresh weight).
The results of the analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that the provision of goat feces with the addition of biofad bioactivator increased the number of shoots, number of leaves, plant height, leaf length and fresh weight of pakchong grass. The best treatment was obtained at P3 (0.075%) with the number of shoots as many as 2.38 shoots after data transformation, the number of leaves as many as 7.25 after data transformation, plant height of 192 cm, leaf length of 56.65 cm and fresh weight of 1290 grams. The conclusion of this study shows that goat feces fertilizer with the addition of Biofad bioactivator at the level of 0.075% can significantly increase the growth of pakchong grass.
